An embargo have been imposed on Gaza and there was an agreement between Hamas and the Israelis tailored through the Egyptians that Hamas would stop launching rockets against Israeli settlements if Israel lifts the embargo and stops targeting Hamas leaders. This was never respected by Israel. Although the assasination of Hamas leaders was reduced the embargo was made even worse. Soon Gaza was without power, gas, and food.
In response Hamas started launching rockets again as Israel did not respect its part of the bargain. In fact the attack against Gaza was expected as the Israeli early elections were nearing (February 2009) and Kadima party was performing poorly in the polls. On the other hand the Israeli army needed to win a war after the humiliating defeat against the "Hizbollah" of Lebanon in 2006.
Both the Israeli government and the army knew that at this time, a war against "Hizbollah" would be too costly and may have adverse results causing the collapse of Kadima party and the morals in the army. The alternative was finding a soft target and who would be a better match than the civilians of Gaza using the Hamas rockets context to attack a weakened, sieged, and devastated region of Gaza.
So by knowing that Hamas would respond to an enforced embargo Israel closed all gates and pressured Egyptians to close the only gate that is not controlled by Israel preventing any food access to Gaza. Hamss responded with a missile attack that cause panic among Israeli settlers of Hebron. Israel had already planned a response and launched an air strike on Gaza killing over 180 Hamas police men. Then a series of responses from Hamas came by launching more missiles, while Israel was executing the well planned attack.
Of course, Israel being the "lovers" of freedom and peace, and a "democratic" nation they had all the answers ready (Please note that our president G.W. Bush recognizes Israel as a Jewish state... Can someone please help me understand how can a religious state be democratic? Unless it wipes out all other religious minorities which does not seem to be a problem for Israelis). Israel is fighting "terrorism" and "not targeting civilians is the answer i personally heard several times before and was expecting to hear again when the Israeli atrocities against Gaza started in this new conflict.
With over 800 Palestinians killed among which are over 280 children and over 170 women, Israel still claims it is not targeting civilians. It is just another Holocaust in progress, a genocide against Palestinians, a massacre against children, yet the leaders of the "free world" turn their backs. All these fake organizations that were established to help children do not exist when it comes to Palestinian children. If in the US a dog bites a child mildly the parents would sue the owner of the dog and the dog would be put to sleep (gets killed). Yet no one sees Palestinian children. If a woman is abused by her husband, there would be tens of women support groups jumping over the issue to help her out. Yet, no one sees Palestinian women.
Hamas are terrorists for defending their land, their people, and their right to live, but the Israhell army is not because they are "allies". Killing women and children and destroying lives does not count as terrorism. Who would understand this better than the "good ole white folks", the KKK under cover of the USA., after all we base our history on killing Indians and destroying their land then we call them native Americans after we wiped most of them out. Who would understand this better than the Zionist club who orchestrated the Holocaust with Hitler to enforce the immigration of Jews to the "promised land"
